Emily Stearney

Emily Stearney is a Publicity Promotions Specialist with the Office of Planning, Sustainability and Project Management. Emily began working at UIC in March 2019 as the coordinator for the Energy Conscious Campus program, which seeks to reduce energy demand by training and educating building occupants to conserve energy while on campus. Under the Energy Conscious Campus umbrella, Emily has organized several programming directives including UIC’s involvement in the 2019 and 2020 International Freezer Challenge; the “Flames Wash Cold” cold-water-wash campaign in the residence halls; and UIC’s Earth Day 2020 campaign, “Plastic-Free UIC” (a slight deviation from her energy-focused role).

As a member of the Growing Green for UIC team, Emily brings public relations and communications expertise to the strategic planning of the campaign, offering guidance on website development, marketing content, and engagement strategy.
