Water
Water is our world's most precious resource. In addition to issues of climate and environmental degradation threatening our clean water supply, millions across the globe continue to face barriers to access. Conserving the water we use is as important as fighting for water justice, and ensuring that those who lack reliable access to clean water--some of whom exist in our own communities--have the resources they need. Funds in this category range from institutional projects that will help UIC limit water waste, to community outreach projects that work toward universal clean water access.
The LAS Greenspace Improvement Fund Heading link
This fund assists student efforts in creating a greenspace with an improved landscape which features permeable pavers to assist stormwater management and incorporates native and pollinator plants, just outside of UIC’s Behavioural Sciences Building.
The Green Revolving Fund Heading link
Inspired by Strategy 1.1.2 of UIC’s Climate Action Implementation Plan, the Green Revolving Fund supports on-campus energy and water efficiency measures. As these projects result in energy and water savings over time, they also generate cost savings; these cost savings are in turn reinvested back into more efficiency projects. Thus, donations to this fund will help sponsor efficiency projects at UIC in perpetuity!
